About Damian

Former Peace Corps volunteer turned U.S. diplomat, Damian Wampler is the visionary you didn’t know you needed. Using that English Literature degree that everyone said was a mistake, he made Moby Dick and Frankenstein not just filmable, but binge-worthy. With a dash of Steve McCurry’s eye and a sprinkle of Edward Curtis’s soul, Wampler’s neo-noir, hyper-real style will make your audience forget to check their phones.

He may be a world traveler, but he left his heart in New York City. While at the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan, he sold images from his ‘Darfur in Brooklyn’ series to the Brooklyn Museum. And his finger is on the pulse of Gen X, Y, and Z, deeply immersed in comics and graphic novels as a comic creator himself. Now he’s ready to turn your screen into a cultural rollercoaster that’ll leave critics tongue-tied and viewers begging for more.

Got a “cerebral” property gathering dust? Wampler’s your man. He doesn’t just think outside the box; he’s never even seen the box.

Ready to make history? Or better yet, rewrite it for the silver screen? Drop Damian a line. Your next big hit is just an email away.

Damian Wampler: The Lens-Toting Globetrotter

While most folks were pondering their next coffee order, Damian Wampler was packing his camera for adventures that read like a spin of a very eccentric globe. From the snow-capped peaks of Kyrgyzstan (where he taught English as a Peace Corps volunteer) to the bustling streets of Pakistan, the vast expanse of Russia, and the lush landscapes of Papua New Guinea, Damian’s passport stamps could make a seasoned diplomat blush. Oh wait, he is one!

Armed with degrees in English Literature and Anthropology from Boston University, and a master’s in Human and Political Geography focused on the former Soviet Union from UW-Madison, Damian decided the follow his lifelong passion for capturing the beauty culture by gaining a digital photography at New York’s School of Visual Arts.

His lens has captured stories that have found their way into the hallowed halls of the Brooklyn Museum, proving that sometimes, wanderlust and a good eye can land you in pretty fancy places. But Damian wasn’t content with just freezing moments in time. No, he had to go and write a full-length play, graphic novels, and short comics too.

Published works? He’s got those in spades. “Sevara” (2015) and “Monitor” (2020) are his graphic novel babies, while “Kingdom of Ashes” snuck into Geometry Magazine in 2019, surprising literary folks who didn’t expect a photographer to have such a way with words.

Now, in a plot twist that would make even the most imaginative screenwriter do a double-take, Damian has set his sights on Hollywood. He’s not just adapting any old stories, mind you. He’s taking on the likes of Moby Dick and Frankenstein, those dusty tomes your English teacher swore were un-adaptable. Challenge accepted!

Drawing inspiration from photographic legends like Steve McCurry and Edward Curtis, Damian’s directorial style is a cocktail of neo-noir, hyper-realism, and surreal drama, with a generous splash of identity exploration. It’s like your favorite art house film had a love child with a blockbuster, and that child grew up to question the nature of reality itself.

So, while most people are planning their next staycation, Damian Wampler is out there, turning the world’s most complex stories into visual feasts, proving that sometimes, the most roundabout path leads to the most interesting destination. Hollywood, are you ready for a diplomat-photographer-writer-director who thinks Moby Dick is light summer reading? Buckle up, because normal is so last season.
