Kingdom of Ashes is a short graphic narrative, almost a poem with images. At 7 pages long, it uses words and images together to transport the reader to the paradox that is memory and war.
After the death of her husband, a Kurdish soldier joins the army to protect her daughters from terrorists who threaten her village. But while she wages war against the enemy, she fights her own battle to let go of her past.
Kingdom of Ashes is a story about the devotion, family, memory, and love amidst the complex religious conflict facing the Middle East.
